Your questions, answered

What happens during my first Reflexology treatment?

We will discuss medical history, lifestyle, and what you want from the treatment. I will cleanse your feet and begin a full diagnostic reflexology treatment. I will make notes as I work to help me devise a bespoke treatment plan. The treatment is performed fully clothed except for the removal of shoes and socks.

What happens during subsequent treatments?

We have a catch-up at the beginning of subsequent treatments to discuss how you have felt since the last treatment and to discuss any changes in your health. I then deliver your bespoke treatment.

How will I feel after a treatment?

How you feel after your treatment will be very individual to you. Some people feel relaxed and sleepy, whilst others feel energised. I recommend doing as little as possible after the treatment and going with what your body feels like doing. This is not always possible in today’s busy lifestyle, but if you can, it helps you to gain the maximum benefits of the treatment.

There is a possibility that a treatment can bring on a headache, or slight cold-like symptoms. This is transitory and a sign of healing.

How many treatments will I need?

This depends on your reasons for coming and how your body responds. As a general guide, I recommend starting with 4–6 weekly sessions to give your body time to rebalance — particularly if you've been out of balance for a while. Many clients then move to a monthly maintenance session. A one-off treatment is also perfectly valid and will still leave you feeling the benefits.

Does reflexology diagnose illnesses?

No. Reflexologists are not medical professionals and we do not diagnose or claim to cure conditions. We identify areas of tension and imbalance and support your body's own efforts to rebalance. If you have health concerns, please always consult your GP.

Does reflexology hurt?

Reflexology is deeply relaxing. Some reflex points may feel tender when touched — this can indicate an area of imbalance in the corresponding part of the body. Think of it like a skilled massage finding a knot in your shoulder: there's a moment of sensation, then relief. I always work within your comfort level.

Can I talk during the treatment?

Absolutely, if you'd like to. Many clients also close their eyes and drift off — some fall asleep entirely, which is completely fine and actually a wonderful sign that your nervous system has been able to let go. Emotions can surface too; this is a normal and healthy part of the process.
